Electronic Mail Service for Political Science Graduate Students

As a graduate student in the Department of Political Science at The Ohio State University you will receive two email accounts.

1. OSU email account in the form of - lastname.n@buckeyemail.osu.edu (formerly lastname.n@osu.edu)
   
2. Political Science account in the form of - lastname.n@polisci.osu.edu

You may elect to have one of the accounts forwarded to the other account so you only need to read mail from one server.

• To have your OSU email account forwarded to the Political Science email server (or anywhere else) go to https://acctmgt.service.ohio-state.edu/cgi-bin/FWD1FwdgChg.
• To have your Political Science e-mail account forwarded to the OSU central email server, send mail to prl@polisci.osu.edu.  Please provide the username for your Political Science account and the username for your OSU email account.

When configuring your email software to connect to the OSU email server (Buckeye Mail)

• Real Name - your first and last name
• User/Login Name - your OSU username (lastname.#)
• Mail Server (Incoming) - outlook.com
• SMTP Server (Outgoing)* - pod51000.outlook.com

*When using Outgoing Mail from home, using Cable Modem service, DSL service, or modem, generally your Internet Service Provider (ISP) will require you to set your outgoing mail server to their SMTP address. Refer to the directions provided by your ISP. If you connect from an OSU Residence Hall, use smtp.resnet.ohio-state.edu. If you do not connect to the Internet through OSU, you will need to use your ISP's outgoing mail server.
